The one with the green coat and a little life update: moving to England

28 October 2018

London, UK
Hello hello hellooooow *Rupaul’s voice*

So, I moved, FINALLY! To England and I now live with my lovely husband in our lovely little flat in a lovely town. Got myself a job, a little car, almost as old as me to go to work and  honestly, life is good, got through a really hard time the past couple of years, but Kids, listen carefully, it does get better, you just have to work through it, trust your instincts, and know that one day it will be all over whatever you’re going through. Shit happens sometimes in life, it's how it works, you just have to pick yourself up and work through it!
On a serious note, trust God’s plan for you!

So, we went apartment hunting for the first time and basically took the first one we saw! Had Indian for 3 dinners in a row which was amazing but not so much when it comes to the bathroom situation.. (too much info? 😅). Lived in a shared house for one week with a weirdo who couldn’t stop talking about his weird green soup 🤢, a girl who allegedly keeps stealing everyone’s food and a very angry guy who keeps leaving “fuck off” notes on his stuff in the kitchen! You’ll find some in his drawer, in the fridge and even in the freezer! Lol🤣.
Lived without my Instagram for 3 days because I managed to block myself out of it! Standard Afrae! Had to email them with my headshot holding a paper with a code and my name. That was interesting! But I got it back quickly after, so everything is cool!
Made my first, second and third Glossier order and decided that I had to stop for now, I just love the brand so much! I did do an unboxing on my instastories for my first order and I got a lot of DMs telling me they loved it. So maybe I’ll do more of those in the future. Went to see Aladdin in the theatre for the first time! ooooh my god! Such a wonderful experience! We will definitely go to see more plays in the future!
I watched A L.O.T of Rupaul’s drag race the first couple of months I was here, and you know what I’m not ashamed to say I did learn something! I learned that kindness always wins, when Jinkx Monsoon won in season 5, I learned that confidence can get you places when Violet Chachki won (not my favorite queen through), and I learnt that whatever happens in your life, you still can turn your life around and be like Latrice Royal: Large and in charge, chunky yet Funky, Bold and beautiful! Can I get an a ameen up in here!
I always wonder how do they come up with these hilarious weird names! Nina Boninaa, vanjie.. Miss VAAAAAANJIE… I wonder what my drag name would be?
I did get sick of it at the end though, the queens are too dramatic 👸👸🏻👸🏾

Anywho, we went to Brighton for the evening about 4 mouths ago maybe, can't really remember, it was for sure before it was boiling hot in this country. and it was fun! I would say it was a day trip but then I’ll be lying because I woke up late, took waaay too much time to get ready, and then we got stuck in traffic for ages! We ended up spending 2 or 3 hours there but it was so worth it! I managed to take some cute pictures if I say so myself 😏

Thank you for reading, and I'll see you in the next one!

The one with the cheeky Haul

4 June 2018

Londres, Royaume-Uni
Lemme tell you something! When you’re feeling a bit hormonal, a bit confused and you start questioning everything in your life. Lock your debit card somewhere, far away, out of reach! Until the storm passes. Because you know exactly what’s gonna happen next!

I’ve been on the hunt for a good lightweight and moisturizing base, and something that gonna hung around for a good 8 hours. So I went to space NK first, and I got the Chantecaille tinted moisturizer that I’ve been hearing about since I first started watching makeup tutorials on youtube, and I believe I heard about it first in one of Tanya Burr’s Victoria’s secret inspired makeup tutorials back in the day, and she said it was the most amazing lightweight tinted moisturizer ever. You would think I have a very good memory, and you’ll be mistaken, I forget people’s name the first minute they introduce themselves to me, but makeupy stuff I seem to remember very well, (it's kind of a mystery). Anyway, bought it, wore it for 5 days to work, and honestly, it is amazing, nothing like I’ve tried before, it gives you that glowy skin without it being tacky, and that’s exactly what I’ve been looking for.

Then I picked up the Hourglass Vanish flash highlighting stick in Champagne Flash, Allana mentioned it in one of her videos, and I was like “one please!”. Again, I used it last week and it was fabulous, Very beautiful light finish, so easy to apply, I just rub it on the high points of my face, and pad it in with my fingers, no brush needed.
After that, I went straight to John Lewis, they had a little sale going on in the beauty section, and I did take advantage of that, I picked up first the Lancôme Monsieur BIG mascara that Allana keeps talking about, I mean.. look at her, anything she recommends, I’m like: SOLD! I didn’t have the chance to try it yet, but I’ll give it a mention in a future blog post if I do end up liking it.
With that I got the Lancôme Costume strobing drop liquid highlighter that I’m dying to try, you know I’m all about that glow!
I just want to be glowy! Is that too much to ask!

Then I got the channel Les beige tinted moisturizer and lipstick from the new spring collection, and to be honest, it was more of an impulse buy than anything else.. Oops! But I know I’m going to love it! I mean, C’mon, it’s Channel!
So here you have it, a good ol’ haul blog post! I’m blaming pre-period hormones for this one! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Please comment below on what you would like to see more of in the future.

As always, thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you in the next one! Hint: it’s all about Glossier!

The one with my winter outfits and a serious Fargo discussion

24 January 2018

Tanger, Maroc
QUESTION (Dwight’s voice): did you or did you not watch Fargo based on my recommendation in my previous post?

I don’t think this series is everyone’s cup of tea, I made my husband watch the first episode and he was like “I can’t! I can’t! How can you watch this?” I’ve never seen him more creeped out in my life! Hamas on the other hand was more open to the idea of maybe giving it a go, but apparently people getting killed in movies gives her nightmares and she too much of a feminist to be okay with a guy killing his bully wife with a hummer. I explained to her later that she’s the only woman who gets killed in the series and there is a lot of men who do, but I don’t think she was sold on it, I don’t think she’s ever going to watch it.
Don’t know why everyone is so sensitive, it’s a dark comedy for Pete’s sake! (What everyone keeps saying in the series, still don’t know who Pete is though!)

I assume most people who read my blog come from my Instagram, so I think you already saw these outfits, but I thought I will share them here anyway. I was going to link everything like I always do, but I couldn’t find most of them anymore, everything is on sale, or was on sale and no longer exist! So sorry about that! I still hope you are going to enjoy the outfits and maybe it will inspire you in a way.

The one with my makeup bag essentials

21 January 2018

What’s currently floating my boat…

Hello ladies! And gents maybe.. ? I just finished watching Fargo season 1, OMG! I Can NOT believe I didn’t watch it before, where was I? Sometimes I feel like I’m one of the village people! Mind blowing! Now to be honest I’m kinda hesitating whether I should watch season 2 or not! I mean how can you top that? We all know what happened with true detective! I got a text from Hamas this morning at 5 am letting me know that Grace and Frankie are back (best friend goals), so I guess I have some time to think about it. Hemm.. Tough decisions..

For this post I was inspired by Lily Pebble's video: “the only makeup products you need” where she shows us what are her makeup bag essentials, and I thought I would give you a peak into my makeup bag essentials.

Starting off with the primer, the charlotte tilbury Wonder glow is my favorite at the moment and it feels very hydrating on my dry skin, I often mix it with my foundation as well for that extra glow. For foundation I picked the Georgio Armani luminous silk foundation for obvious reasons, I mean.. Who doesn’t love it? Also my skin hasn’t been great lately, and I can really use the extra coverage this foundation gives. My concealer is the one that I’ve been using for the last 6 to 7 years: Lancôme long-lasting softening concealer! I don’t think I’m ever going to try another one because I just don’t need to. It’s weird that it’s not popular in the beauty community, I never hear anyone talking about it, but it’s so good!
I almost never powder or set anything, because I’m really into the dewy look and tbh my skin is just too dry, but if I have to, my go to powder is always the charlotte tilbury one, it is literary the best powder out there.
Moving on to contour and highlight, I’ve been really enjoying lately the charlotte tilbury filmstar bronze and glow in the shade fair-medium, the sculpt powder is not at all orangy, which is perfect for me if I don’t want to use a bronzer and a contour powder, this basically does the job of bronzing a little bit and definitely contouring my chubby cheeks, the highlight is also beautiful, I mean, I still prefer the Becca one, but this one is not bad at all.

For blush I have what I literally used for the last 4 years: Nars Douceur blush, I’m almost out, and I will definitely repurchase, it’s just a very sophisticated color. Urban decay’s naked 3 palette is my go to, no doubt, and they’re real! Benefit mascara is just phenomenal! Can’t go wrong with that!
For my lips I have two choices depending on the mood: my fav Clarins instant light natural lip perfector and Fenty beauty’s uncensored stunna lip paint for a bolder choice. Both gorgeous!

Thank you for reading, let me know what are your makeup bag essentials?
See you soon xoxo
